Four days' hiking around Jade Dragon Snow Mountain


Duration: 4 day(s) - Location: Tiger Leaping Gorge and Baoshan Stone Town

On this four day trip, participants will hike in the famous Tiger Leaping Gorge, around the Jade Dragon Snow mountain - which is the highest mountain in Lijiang, and cross the Yangtze river by boat. The tour will visit some rural areas, so participants can experience the traditional way of life of the inhabitants, and study their culture. Participants will also take a chairlift to visit Yak Meadow on the snow covered mountain, which is 3700 m high.

Day 1: Lijiang - Qiaotou - Upper gorge - Yacha Jiao - stay at guesthouse

It is a drive of about 2.5 hours from Lijiang to Qiaotou, and then a five to six hour hike from Qiaotou to Yacha Jiao. Participants will pass by some small villages and fields on the way, and have views of the Yangtze River.

Day 2: Tea horse guesthouse - Middle gorge - Lower gorge - Walnut garden - Night in a local guesthouse

After breakfast at the guesthouse, it is a hike of about four hours to the Walnut Garden. Participants are treated to views of the Snow Mountain, the gorge and waterfalls on the way.

Day 3:  Walnut Garden - Ferry - Baoshan Stone Town - Night in home-stay

Participants are driven about 40 minutes from Walnut Garden to the ferry, then taken across the Yangtze River by boat. Baoshan Stone Town is about a two hour walk, and three hour drive away.

Day 4:  Baoshan Stone town - Jade Dragon Snow Mountain - Lijiang

In the morning, participants can walk around the village and meet the local people. After lunch, they will drive four hours back to Lijiang, on the way through Jade Dragon Snow mountain area.



Participant guidelines

The price includes local meals, transportation, entrance fees, English speaking guide, three nights' accommodation, and two big bottles of water every day.

It does not include flights, other accommodation and meals, insurance and tips for the guide and driver.
